Union Meeting tonight, Monday, September 21st at 6:00pm

Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our membership, I am respectfully asking that if you are feeling ill or are exhibiting symptoms of cold or flu, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND.  Additionally, if you have been around others that are ill or are exhibiting symptoms of cold or flu, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND.  This will help protect the Local 697 membership and their families.  We will NOT be providing any food before the meeting.

      $25 gift card drawing

The Sisters of 697 are sponsoring “Halloween gift bags” for underprivileged children here in Northwest Indiana.  If you bring a bag of Halloween candy to the Union Meeting tonight and donate it to the Sisters of 697, you will be entered in a drawing for a $25 gift card.

      Social Distancing

IBEW Local 697 is following CDC recommendations to minimize risk to our members and our staff.  We respectfully ask our members to use social distancing guidelines while visiting the Local 697 Complex by allowing at least 6 feet of space between each person.  Chairs for tonight’s meeting will be 6’ apart and we ask that you do not shake hands.

      Face Mask Required

To protect our members and employees, we are requiring all Local 697 members and guests to wear a mask or face covering that covers the mouth and nose at all times while visiting the Local 697 Complex.  If you do not have your own mask, IBEW Local 697 will provide a face covering for you to use and keep showing our commitment to safety.  A face mask / hand sanitizing station has been set up in the Local 697 vestibule.

The use of any mask or face covering should not be seen as a substitute for social distancing.  Please continue to observe rules regarding appropriate distancing while on the Local 697 premises.  Additionally, please use the hand sanitizer stations that has been provided for our members and staff.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during these unprecedented times.

      In Solidarity,

      Ryan R. Reithel

      Business Manager / Financial Secretary

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) will begin making Lost Wages Assistance (LWA) payments to eligible claimants beginning the week of Monday, Sept. 21st.

LWA is funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide $300 per week to supplement unemployment benefits for those who have an unemployment benefit amount of at least $100 and are out of work due to COVID-19.

LWA funding will only cover the six-week period from the week ending Aug. 1st to the week ending Sept. 5th. No LWA funding will be available to states beyond that time period.

Indiana will make payments the week of Sept. 21st, covering the period of Aug. 1st to Sept. 5th, for those eligible. For those claimants with issues holding payment, DWD will make payments, pending funding availability, once eligibility is established.

Since March 8th, Indiana DWD has paid a total of $4.9 billion to nearly 670,000 Hoosiers.
